Hay que tener cuidado porque, como otras plantas, si se toma en grandes dosis es tóxico.

Las semillas se usan en repostería (tartas, rosquillas, tortas, galletas), panadería, salsas y para bebidas (licor de anís, café de anís). También se incluyen en algunos embutidos.

Me dice Frescca que también se utiliza el anís para elaborar perfumes, aunque yo sólo lo uso para perfumar mis platos.

Enebro
Enebro con enebrinasEl enebro (originario de Europa) es una planta muy útil. Tiene aplicaciones homeopáticas y se usa como condimento en la preparación de platos y licores. Sus bayas, las enebrinas, se utilizan maduras y secas como condimento en la cocción de algunas verduras y salsas de carne. Se usa en la preparación de adobos y conservas, carnes de cerdo y caza, y como aromatizante de la ginebra.

Además, la resina de enebro se utiliza para curar heridas y resfriados, por su efecto balsámico. La madera es apreciada para fabricar muebles y en jardinería, porque su versatilidad en el “modelado” (topiaria), como el tejo o el boj.

Comino
Originario de Oriente. La especia es una semilla pequeña de color verdoso, forma elíptica y sabor dulce. Se parece al anís, pero es un poco picante.

El comino se utiliza para condimentar algunos platos de carne, aromatizar licores, quesos y productos de repostería. Es una especia común en la preparación de adobos, encurtidos y conservas. Es un ingrediente del cuscús, del humus y del gazpacho andaluz.

Medicinalmente, tiene la propiedad de prevenir cólicos.

Curry
Es un condimento de origen indio. Aunque el curry original es un batiburrillo, porque en India hay millones de variedades, el curry comercial suele estar compuesto por una mezcla de especias como cúrcuma, pimienta, mostaza, jengibre, canela y otras. Suele venir en polvo y es de color amarillo o rojizo. Se utiliza para preparar arroces, carnes, pescados y huevos, platos que suelen adoptar el nombre de la especia (como el arroz al curry o el pollo al curry). Aunque ya os digo, que si viajáis a India, Pakistán y países del sudeste asiático, o incluso a los restaurantes indios del Reino Unido, descubriréis que el curry no es un frasco de polvos, sino una cultura culinaria ancestral y bastante compleja.

Nuez moscada
Che Dorée rallando nuez moscadaEs la semilla seca de un árbol procedente de la Isla de las Especias (las Molucas de Indonesia) y hermana de leche de otra especia llamada macis (que es la piel que recubre a la propia nuez). Se utiliza en polvo, rallando la semilla en el momento de usarla, porque resulta más aromática. Se usa en pasteles, cremas dulces, sopas cremosas y conservas, platos con queso… Va bien con el puré de patatas y con salsas blancas tipo bechamel.

Vainilla
Es la vaina procedente de una orquídea trepadora de zonas tropicales (Vanilla planifolia). De ahí su nombre: vainilla, vaina pequeña, porque a los conquistadores españoles les pareció igual que la vaina de una espada cuando la vieron por primera vez en Veracruz (México). La vainilla se usa para hacer bombones. De hecho, los mayas y los aztecas ya mezclaban la vainilla con una bebida de cacao. También se utiliza como condimento para salsas dulces, pasteles, postres, cremas, helados, natillas, infusiones, licores… Por su aroma penetrante, se usa en cosmética (si no lo digo, la Frescca me mata).

Recolección de semillas

Los sabios decir que en vida importante ser cauto. Por eso en Qilania haber decidido enfrentar posibles ataques de archienemigo Lord Lord. No poner en peligro la maravilloisa biodiversidad de isla. Los árboles habitantes de Qilania ser majestuosos pero frágiles. Por eso hacer reserva de pequeños ejemplares, para repoblar velozmente zonas de isla si necesario.
 
Empezar hablando de propagación sexual por semillas y, más concreccionadamente, la recogida.

Para recoger semillas necesitar:

  • Bolsas de guardar semillas.
  • Amigo jugador baloncesto o palo ganchudo, alcanzar ramas altas.
  • Bocadillos. Agua.
  • Gorro si sol, chubasquero si lluvia.
  • Información.


Primero averiguar semillas para recoger, según época del año, clima y lugar donde vivir. Ahora, en hemisferio norte, ser buena época para conos de ciprés (pelotillas que contener semillas). En primavera recoger semillas de olmo. En verano y otoño muchos frutos con semilla (arándanos, ciruelas, moras, endrinas). Conseguir información leyendo libros o consultar sitio especializado Internet.

Recolectar en bosque puro con muchos ejemplares. Gracias a ello conseguir gran diversidad genética y futuras plantas ser más resistentes frente condiciones adversarias (plagas, sequías). Mejor coger semillas de árbol porque las de suelo poder estar dañadas por humedad, insectos y otros animalillos oriundos bosque. Escoger semilla gorda y sana, desechar las que haber agujeros, grietas o mordeduras.

Ser siempre respetuoso con entorno, naturaleza debe seguir ciclo natural reproductivo. No dañar ramas. No despeluchar árbol. Manos quietas si estar en espacio natural protegido, sólo contemplar y disfrutar, sentir parte del entorno.
